to see if your vehicle is suitable for inclusion in a program to
test the emissions performance of Australias vehicle fleet.
Orbital has recently been selected
to complete vehicle testing for the second National In-Service Emissions
Study (NISE2). This is a follow-up to an earlier pilot study Orbital
did in 2004. The objective of the testing is to establish the emissions
performance of a representative sample of light duty vehicles in
the Australian vehicle fleet by emissions testing at Orbital. The
data collected will be used to feed into Australias emission
inventory and further modelling to assist policy development for
vehicle emission and air quality management.

For the NISE2 program, Orbitals Balcatta
facility will test over 300 vehicles during 2008, approximately
8-10 vehicles per week. In this study, petrol vehicles will be tested,
from passenger to compact and large SUVs (sports utility vehicles)
and also petrol LCVs (light commercial vehicles utes,
vans). The age range of vehicles required is from 1994 through to
current.
Orbital is seeking volunteers to loan their
vehicle to this program; testing is done in our laboratory and will
occur over a few days and only over minimal kilometres. The vehicles
are tested on normal pump fuel.
Incentives are being offered and a loan vehicle
will be made available if required. If you are willing to assist,
please fill in the online FORM or contact
the Program Manager, Harold Hochstadt, shown below.
