Saab was the first major automotive producer to publicly display
product incorporating Orbital's OCP technology. The Saab Combustion
Control (SCC) system was unveiled at the prestigious Paris Motor
Show in September 2000.
Saab's motivation in developing SCC was a desire to lower fuel consumption
and radically reduce exhaust emissions but without impairing engine
performance. SCC is based on three key processes:
Orbital's spray guided air assisted direct
injection
Spark to piston for ignition providing a
variable spark gap
