SYNERJECT FINALISES 4-STROKE
DIRECT INJECTOR FOR PRODUCTION
Synerject, the 50:50 Joint Venture between
Orbital and Siemens VDO has completed the Production Part Approval
Process (PPAP) on the "STRATA" Air Assisted Direct Injector
for production 4-stroke engine applications.
The new "Strata" 4-stroke direct
injector shares the solenoid and body with the current 2-stroke
injector which has been in production since 1996 in Orbital Combustion
Process 2-stroke outboards and motorcycles products.
The 4-stroke injector has a longer leg length
to suit the 4-stroke engine packaging and a new range of nozzle/seat
configurations specific to the various 4-stroke engines which are
being targeted for future production.
The PPAP, an integral part of the six sigma
quality standards, had been completed to support customer requirements
for Orbital's first production 4-stroke Direct Injected products
later this year.
The production ready injector opens up new
opportunities for Orbital and its customers as the injector is now
fully validated and readily available thus significantly reducing
any risk to the customer introducing Orbital Direct Injection products
to meet the growing demand for cleaner and more flexible engines.
The PPAP, an integral part of the six sigma
quality standards, had been completed to provide the quality injector
supply for Orbitals first production 4-stroke Direct Injected
product, the recently released kerosene (JP8) fuelled MV800 All
Terrain Vehicle by Polaris Industries.
This production injector opens up new opportunities
for Orbital and its customers as the injector is now fully validated
and readily available thus significantly reducing any risk to the
customer introducing Orbital Direct Injection products to meet the
growing demand for cleaner and more flexible engines.
