ORBITAL LAUNCHES FlexDI™
Orbital released its new FlexDI™ fuel
system technology at the 5th International Clean Vehicle Exhibition
and Forum in Beijing today.
FlexDI™ was developed by Orbital in response
to the growing need by vehicle manufacturers to utilise their same
engine designs to operate on many different fuel types. Taking this
approach minimises development investment costs and results in faster
product lead times to market.
FlexDi™ enables engine manufactures to
develop one engine family capable of handling different fuel types
through changes to the fuel system. This opens up the potential
for manufacturers to offer customers Gasoline, Alcohol, CNG, Hydrogen
and heavy fuelled engine variants utilising the same base engine
design. FlexDI™ can also be configured for Bi-Fuel or Tri Fuel
operation.
Polaris Industries is the first customer to
go into series production with FlexDI™. Further details can
