ORBITAL OFFSETS CARBON EMISSIONS
GENERATED FROM AUSTRALIAN OPERATIONS
Orbital
Corporation, a world leader in technical innovation and services
in the area of emissions reduction has recently signed up with Greenfleet
Australia to offset the annual Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
emissions generated by its testing facility in Balcatta, Western
Australia.
| To offset the CO2
from its own operations, Orbital has commissioned Greenfleet
Australia to plant and care for the trees. Since 1997, Greenfleet
has planted more than two million native trees on behalf of
individual motorists and organisations. Greenfleet's policy
is to plant trees to create forests in areas of environmental
concern, putting back the mix of native species that had been
there originally. |

Orbital
Direct Injection (DI) technology has made a significant contribution
to the reduction of greenhouse gases through the widespread application
of the Orbital DI since its first production application in 1996.
There are now more than 500,000 engines in the market utilising
this technology and with an average saving of 30-50% in fuel consumption.
As a result of these fuel savings the cumulative savings in CO2
has now reached a figure of over 1.48 million tonnes for Orbital
DI products over their lifetime.
Rod Houston, Orbital
CEO and Managing Director confirmed Orbital's commitment and policy
to CO2 and emission control: "We want
to demonstrate commitment and leadership for CO2
reduction, not only in our products and services but also in the
way we do business in our own operations".
