ORBITAL PRESENTING 100% ETHANOL
DIRECT INJECTION CAPABILITY IN BRAZIL
Orbital will be presenting
a technical paper at the XVI SAE Brazil International Congress and
Exhibition being held in São Paulo, Brazil on November 28th
to 30th 2007.
This International Congress is the major annual
event for Mobility Technology in the Southern Hemisphere and creates
a forum for automakers, suppliers, engineering services and technology
companies to meet and discuss the requirements and opportunities
for the South American market.
Orbital's paper, titled "The Effect of
E100 Water Content on High Load Performance of a Spray Guide Direct
Injection Boosted Engine" is very appropriate for the Brazil
market, given the high demand and mature infrastructure for high
Ethanol levels in the fuel (up to 100%, or E100) offered in Brazil.
Direct Injection of E100 (100% Ethanol) offers
significant performance potential compared to gasoline, and combined
with engine boosting, offers a very practical and aggressive engine
downsizing strategy to meet the ever increasingly more stringent
CO2 emission requirement.
The E100 programs carried out to date, a part
of Orbital's FlexDI system developments, have demonstrated that
the Orbital system can provide superior cold start performance compared
to standard manifold injection E100 systems.
