MERCURY MARINE "OPTIMAX"
OUTBOARDS WIN THE COVETED J.D. POWER AWARD FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE
YEAR
The
Mercury Marine OptiMax outboard engine products received the coveted
JD Power and Associates award for the 3rd consecutive year for delivering
the highest customer satisfaction in the direct-injected (DI) outboard
category.
The
awards, announced annually at the Miami Boat Show, are based on
an overall customer satisfaction rating assessed over seven criteria:
starting ease; quietness at cruise; reliability; fuel economy; shifting
smoothness; lack of exhaust fumes; and ability of boat to accelerate
rapidly. The study also examines engine quality.
The
200 Hp OptiMax engine was first introduced in 1996, with the OptiMax
outboard series now ranging from 75 through to 300 Hp. OptiMax engines
continue to be a popular choice with boat owners wanting superior
engine performance, excellent fuel economy and an emission footprint
able to satisfy today's most stringent emission standards.
The
OptiMax engines use the Orbital patented "OCP" Orbital
Combustion Process with the direct injection systems supplied by
Synerject, Orbital's 50:50 JV with Siemens VDO. Orbital congratulates
Mercury on this outstanding achievement, testimony to the engineering
and manufacturing quality behind the Optimax outboard family.
