MERCURY MARINE "OPTIMAX" OUTBOARDS WINS THE COVETED J.D. POWERS AND ASSOCIATES INDUSTRY AWARD FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

For a second consecutive year Mercury Marine was recognized by J.D. Power and Associates for delivering the highest customer satisfaction in direct-injected (DI) outboard engines. Mercury OptiMax - the marine industry's leading DI two-stroke outboard - was recognized as "Highest in Customer Satisfaction With Two-Stroke Outboard Engines in a Tie."

The Optimax engine was first introduced in 1996 and remains a firm favourite with boating customers offering the superior performance/weight advantages of the 2 stroke engine compared to alternative 4 stroke engine and having the capability to meet the most stringent California Air Resource Board emissions - the 3 Star emission level. Compared to the base engine, the OptiMax outboard typically demonstrating a 30 to 40% fuel economy saving.

Mercury Marine is a long time licensee of the Orbital "OCP" technologies with the OptiMax engine using Orbital's patented combustion processes. The direct injection systems are supplied by Synerject, Orbital's 50:50 Joint Venture with Siemens VDO.

The JD Power award to Mercury is a testimony to the quality and commitment by Mercury to the OptiMax engine series, ranging from 75 through to 300 Hp.
