MERCURY MARINE "OPTIMAX"
OUTBOARDS WINS THE COVETED J.D. POWERS AND ASSOCIATES INDUSTRY AWARD
FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
For a second consecutive year Mercury Marine
was recognized by J.D. Power and Associates for delivering the highest
customer satisfaction in direct-injected (DI) outboard engines.
Mercury OptiMax - the marine industry's leading DI two-stroke outboard
- was recognized as "Highest in Customer Satisfaction With
Two-Stroke Outboard Engines in a Tie."
The Optimax engine was first introduced in
1996 and remains a firm favourite with boating customers offering
the superior performance/weight advantages of the 2 stroke engine
compared to alternative 4 stroke engine and having the capability
to meet the most stringent California Air Resource Board emissions
- the 3 Star emission level. Compared to the base engine, the OptiMax
outboard typically demonstrating a 30 to 40% fuel economy saving.
Mercury Marine is a long time licensee of the
Orbital "OCP" technologies with the OptiMax engine using
Orbital's patented combustion processes. The direct injection systems
are supplied by Synerject, Orbital's 50:50 Joint Venture with Siemens
VDO.
The JD Power award to Mercury is a testimony
to the quality and commitment by Mercury to the OptiMax engine series,
ranging from 75 through to 300 Hp.
