ENVIROFIT FLEET ACCUMULATES 3
MILLION KMS
Following on from
the production commencement in September last year, more 3-wheeler
taxis have been fitted with the Envirofit retrofit kit.
The 3 wheelers, a key part of the Philippines
and other Asian cities traffic infrastructure typically use 100
to 125 cc 2 stroke engines, noted for their good toque at low speed
and low maintenance costs.
Envirofit, a licensee to Orbital's technology,
developed the direct injection retrofit kit in order to address
the serious emission problem of the existing 2 stroke engine taxis.
As a part of this process, Envirofit set up the local infrastructure
needed to support both the vehicle conversion and to provide the
on going support. Each taxi converted effectively eliminates more
than a ton of air pollution every year as well as offering up to
35-40% fuel economy benefit.
Today, with over 200 taxis operating in Vigan
and Puerto Princesa in the Philippines, the retrofitted taxi fleet
has achieved around 3,000,000 kms.
Interviews with drivers, as reported in local
Philippines newspapers have been very positive. Tricycle drivers
said they are spending only half of their usual gasoline and 2 stroke
oil expenses when they started using the DI kit.
"Before I used the DI kit, I was spending
about P100 to P150 for gasoline alone. Ever since I used the DI
kit, I am now spending about P60 a day," one tricycle owner
said. He said this is a big help because he can now financially
support the needs of his children in school.
Mr. Ron Bills, CEO and Chairman of Envirofit

operators and our distributor/dealer network. We are proving commercial

Synerject, the 50:50 Joint Venture partnership
between Orbital and Continental supplies the air injector and other
key Engine Management System components to Envirofit.
